How To Write a Thesis Statement

Your thesis statement may be the most important part of your paper. Writing a thesis statement is what defines your position on the topic or subject of your paper. It should be interesting and have a direct audience.

A good thesis statement needs to be very clear, very concise, and must be supported by ideas and facts about the topic or subject. An effective thesis statement is normally found toward the end of the introduction paragraph. Your thesis statement is what gives your paper a purpose and in the end, is the driving force behind your paper.

To help you develop a good thesis statement, simply ask yourself what you believe about your topic or subject and write it down. Once you’ve done this, take out the “I believe” portion of what you wrote and you will most likely have a pretty good statement or something that you can work with to give you some direction. You can also try asking yourself questions about your topic. Make them somewhat difficult but interesting. Write down the answers to these questions in sentence form and you can use that to help you develop a good thesis statement.

A good example of a thesis statement helps you to have a roadmap for your paper. It also helps you to have something to bring the focus of your paper toward. It should be the starting tool for other topic sentences and paragraphs in your paper. An effective thesis statement is also very helpful for your reader. It serves as a guideline so your reader has some direction as to where the paper is going. It helps your reader to keep the focus or main point of your paper. It also gives your reader a reason to keep reading because they want to know the supporting facts behind the thesis statement.

A well-written thesis statement is the back bone of your paper. The importance of writing an effective thesis cannot be understated. MonsterPapers has over a million papers with good examples of thesis statements which you can use to help get you started on a great paper.
